Explore Classical Education

Catholic classical education at Holy Family Classical Academy seeks to lead students out of themselves toward Christ through an encounter with goodness, truth, and beauty.

This work begins with embodied learning: children interact with the world around them by holding real books, using manipulatives to learn mathematics, writing in cursive with paper and pencil, working alongside teachers and classmates, and observing and contemplating the natural world. In this way, knowledge is first received through the senses and the body, so that wonder can take root.

Subjects are then studied as parts of one reality ordered by God. Students learn to see how a story, a poem, and a math problem all reveal aspects of the same goodness, truth, and beauty. Because Christ is the Word through whom all things were made, every subject finds its meaning in relation to Him. This habit of connecting ideas forms minds that think clearly, remember deeply, and delight in what is true.

Virtue is formed in the same integrated life. Through the stories of heroes and saints, the discipline of study and homework, and the daily life of the school community, students learn and are shaped by virtue. The classroom becomes an apprenticeship in character; teachers serve as guides so that knowledge becomes integrity, courage, and joy.
